Places of interest in the South Bohemia region

South Bohemia is one of the most picturesque areas in the Czech Republic, popular with tourists for its beautiful and peaceful countryside ideal for relaxation and rest. This remarkable area has many sites of historic interest, which make a great destination for a trip, on bicycle or otherwise.

CHATEAU KAMENICE NAD LIPOU

Situated 4 km from the resort, currently the seat of the Prague Museum of Decorative Arts. The château is surrounded by a garden featuring an ancient linden tree, a landmark of the garden.
An annual toy festival Hračkobraní takes place at the château.
 


CHATEAU ČERVENÁ LHOTA

Chateau Červená Lhota is situated about 20 km from the resort. Apart from its renowned exhibitions it is remarkable for its position – built on a rock in the middle of a lake.
 

CHATEAU AND CASTLE IN JIDŘICHŮV HRADEC


This monumental compound of a château and a castle in the town Jindřichův Hradec, a national heritage site since 1996, is one the most extensive historical monument sites in the Czech Republic.
The castle often hosts theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events. Distance from the resort: 25 km.

PELHŘIMOV – THE TOWN OF RECORDS

You can visit the famous Museum of Records and Curiosities, whose exhibitions document unique performances of all kinds. An annual Festival of Records and Curiosities is held at the second
 weekend in June. Distance from the resort: 18 km.
 


CASTLE KÁMEN 

Kámen is an originally Gothic castle from the 13th century, built on a large rock, in a village of the same name, about 15 km from Pelhřimov. The castle hosts a permanent exhibition of motorcycles.
 


STEAM TRAIN


The narrow gauge railway is a local attraction – its track gauge is only 76 cm. Trains go from Jindřichův Hradec in two directions: to Nová Bystřice and Obrataň. The total length of this railway is 79 km.
The maximum speed is 50 km per hour, so passengers can admire the landscape. The scenic railway passes typical regional villages as well as an almost pristine natural area called „Czech Canada.“
